I have a long history with lasers. I started using laser in 1998. Now we have three different lasers in the office and there are many benefits that the patients are receiving from our laser procedures. In terms of diagnoses, when applicable we have one laser that can tell people whether or not they have a cavity very conclusively. In terms of treatment, what I’m finding with the laser is speed.
We can have quicker healing times and we can have less anesthesia required for people. People are very comfortable; less post-operative discomfort for people. In addition to that, we can do many procedures all in one visit, thanks to the laser. Whereas with conventional procedures, we would have to split them up over several visits. Everybody is busy nowadays, the one thing I think where lasers are an exceptional gift to dentistry is saving patients their precious time.
